HDMI port damage is the most frequent console repair I carry out. Ports on PS4 and PS5 consoles are particularly vulnerable — they are designed for a cable that stays in place, not regular plugging and unplugging at floor level. A port that is bent, loose, causing a no-signal picture, or producing intermittent display issues is almost always a straightforward replacement. Xbox consoles also develop HDMI faults, though less commonly. If your console outputs no picture or a flickering image, the HDMI port is the most likely cause.
Overheating — Console Cleaning and CPU Repaste
Consoles that shut down unexpectedly, run unusually hot to the touch, or sound like a jet engine are almost always suffering from dust accumulation inside the heatsink and fan assembly. Dust insulates heat rather than letting it escape, causing the processor to overheat and trigger a protective shutdown. A full internal clean removes the build-up and restores proper airflow. For older consoles — particularly PS4s that have been running for several years — the thermal paste on the processor also dries out and loses effectiveness. A repaste alongside the clean gives significantly better heat transfer and extends the working life of the unit.
Won't Start and Other Faults
Beyond HDMI and overheating, I also work on consoles that won't power on at all, disc drives that won't accept or eject discs, and controllers with analogue stick drift or sticky buttons. Drop off in person or send it in

If you're posting it, use a double-walled cardboard box with foam padding around all sides — consoles are heavy and need proper protection. I'll repair the console, test it fully, and return it via tracked courier, or contact you when it's ready for collection.
All repairs come with a 60-day warranty.
Every console repair carries a 60-day warranty on parts and labour. If the same fault returns within 60 days — the HDMI port fails again, the console overheats after the clean, or anything directly related to the work carried out — I'll look at it again at no charge. The warranty applies equally to in-person repairs in Hastings, Rye, and Eastbourne, and to postal repairs from anywhere else in the UK.
